It's World Turtle Day!

Bet you didn't know that this coming Tuesday, 23 May 2017 is World Turtle Day.
Well, the more you know.

American Tortoise Rescue, a nonprofit organization established in 1990 for the protection of all species of tortoise and turtles, and this day was created as an annual observance to help people celebrate and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats around the world.

Although you and I may be just one person, we can all contribute to help save these beautiful creatures!
  • Don't purchase a turtle or tortoise from a pet shop, this increases demand from the wild.
  • Do not remove turtles or tortoises from the wild unless they are sick or injured.
  • Report the illegal sales or trade of turtles and tortoises to your local animal control shelter.
  • If a tortoise is crossing a street, pick it up and send it in the same direction it was going – if you try to make it go back, it will turn right around again.

Fun fact:
Not all turtle species can hide their heads inside their shells!

So to commemorate this day, I have created a turtle wallpaper for all of you. Hopefully the illustrated turtle reminds you of a certain cartoon.

Feel free to download the file below and crop it however you’d like.
It should fit any device nicely. 😊

iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th gen - 1136 x 640.

iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 - 1334 x 750.

Do let me know if there are any issues faced when downloading or saving the file!

    1. Hey Nicole, thank you for reading this post!

I am glad that I am able to be sharing such fun facts with everyone. It's just funny and interesting how they seem to be so stubborn and bent on getting where they want to go.

  6. I didn't realize that turtles were so set on their paths (in response to the don't turn them around). That's really interesting! I'm also surprised that pet stores don't "breed" turtles instead of snatching them from the wild.

    1. Hey Tereza, thank you for reading!!
And yes, for example the green sea turtle is unable to hide it's head in it's shell! I'd imagine that they sleep flat, with their heads out - so adorable!
